Ditech Has Had Its Share of Complaints

Ditech.com, which contributes a big share of General Motors' profits lately, has left a lot of angry consumers by the side of the road, including those below:

We refinanced our home. The closing documents stated the funds would be wired to our account, and specified the date. Our first monthly payment is due a month later. Instead of wiring the money, they gave us a check. Elane at GMAC said their wiring system was broke, so they would send a certified check. It was a regular check, not cashiers, or certified. Wells Fargo bank put it on 7 business days hold. They don't count the first or last day, so it is really a 9 business days for a total of 11 days hold. During this time, our loan charged us about $500 dollars on money we didn't have. Wells Fargo said they could waive the hold fee if the check cleared. It did not clear.

We have been charged $500 dollars in interest on money that was not yet loaned to us. We intended to use that money to purchase some land, and now the sellers are impatient with us, because we have to keep pushing back the closing date.

I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with power sliding doors. This morning, I used the button on my key fob to open the driver's side sliding door. I was in a hurry, and reached in to grab my purse from the back seat when the door was open about a foot. Next thing I knew, the door was coming back on my forearm, and the door was trying it's hardest to shut with my arm still inside! If the door hits an object, it is supposed to stop and slide back open, but sometimes it takes a bit of force to do so.

Well... so my arm is stuck, with the motor on the sliding door making loud noises trying to shut, horrible, horrible pain, I'm pushing with all my might, can't get my arm out from this crazy door. Finally, I manage to wrench my arm out, and the door shuts like nothing happened... I stare at the van, hardly believing what just happened. I have 2 small children, 2 and 5, unable to imagine what would have happened had this been one of their arms instead of mine. I'm sure it would have snapped the bones quickly, and there is no way they would have been able to pull their arm back out. What if it had been their head or neck!?!?

I now have skinny 3 inch bruises on each side of my forearm where it was stuck, and scratches higher up on my arm towards my wrist from where I pulled it out and the door scratched me.

Right after it happened I had huge indentations on my forearm from where I was pinned in the van. What a horrible idea this was on the manufacturers part to make this type of power sliding door! Are they going to wait until a child dies until they fix this problem! You can bet as soon as I get home, these power doors will be disabled for sure. And the passengers side door stops about 6 inches from closing, but will close manually.

1998 Durango power seat broke loose in rush hour traffic. Seat landed on my toddlers knees that was seated directly behind my drivers seat. Chrysler would do nothing! Young idiots on their phoneline. Do they subcontract their customer service. This was very serious and dangerous and they didn't care at all. I have always owned a Dodge and have purchased 3 new Dodge products over the past few years but never, ever again! Ford or Chevy for me from now on. Dodge has went down the tubes! Their customer service is ignorant and extremely unknowledgeable. I wouldn't suggest anyone purchase a vehicle where the seat just snaps/breaks off of the tract and they will do nothing to send out a notice to unsuspecting owners.

I am just sick of your caveman ads-they are inane and boring-no new ones?

Becky of Findlay OH (07/28/07)
I bought my 1999 Durango new. I've kept up with all the proper maintanence with this vehicle. Once things started going wrong they haven't stopped. We've had tranny problems, radiator problems, and the popular steering problems that we all seem to have with this vehicle. The cost of fixing these problems is expensive to say the least, especially if you go through a dealership for the repairs.

My mortgage loan has been in process for several months. It takes weeks to receive responses back from the mortgage processor. I have phoned and emailed several times only to learn that Shawna is no longer with Ditech. In contacting today, I was advised by Ditech that my mortgage was just input and would take several months to work. This is ridiculous. They have poor customer service (if any at all), there associates have bo idea how to retrun calls time.

I have been waiting for several months after applying and sending in documentation to only find I have to start over since the mortgage processor has left.

I contacted Ditech in April of this year to refinance my home. After receiving Ditech's offer I decided to refinance with my existing mortgage company. I discovered today though that Ditech has charged $500.00 to my credit card. I do remember being told by the loan agent that I would have to pay for the property appraisal up front but if I decided not to proceed with the loan nothing would be charged to my card. Ditech did not do a property appraisal. I did not get that far in the loan process.

My wife and I have an ARM loan and want to refinance on Fixed Loan.

We decided Ditech had the best rate & returned a call to Tommy. Everything seemed fine waiting for paperwork to review and Tommy called my wife and verbally recapped financial figures with her (I was out of town) and that he needed $500.00 on a credit card.

However, when we received the paperwork the figures were different than what he verbally told my wife. Right then I made the decision not to go through with the loan from Ditech and I called the assigned loan processor. I told her of my decision and why and she then told me I would have to forfeit my $500.

At the closing of the Mortgage ditech.com collect enough money to pay my 2006 Summer taxes, they so far have not paid the Summer taxes but they have paid the 2006 Winter taxes. There is plenty of money to pay the Summer tax. Now I am being called and receiving mail requesting that this tax be paid, I do not have enough in my savings to pay the amount. I have called 3 times and cannot get a straight answer, I have faxed the tax information 3 times and have even sent it via USPS. The second time they stated they received the corrospondence and would be putting a work order in to pay the tax. After receiving a phone call from the township that it has not been paid, I called the 3rd time, they wanted me to send the tax information again, they refused to let me talk to someone from the tax department or to a supervisor nor have they returned any of my requests to have a supervisor return my calls.

I am getting mail and phone calls to pay this past due bill. It is a constant nagging feeling that is bugging me that this bill has not been paid, as I attempt to keep my bills paid up to date. I have not been sleeping well and it is constantly on my mind and it is affecting my work. I am the sole provider of my family.

We have had a remodel loan for about 9 months. We tried for several months to make a payment online, but the website is never available (from the 4th of the month through the 14th of the month). Most of the time it takes repeated effort, time and time again. I called the help line and they charge $12 to make a payment by voice mail and $16 to speak with an operator!

Good way to make money - shut down the web site and charge an exhorbitant fee.

I did an online application with Ditech for a Home Equity Line and was originally quoted a rate of 9.55%. Their appraisal came in at $277,000 for my home and Anna assured me on 9/28 that I would still get the 9.55% interest rate.

Signed loan documents on 10/4/06 which indicated a rate of 9.55%. Now on 10/6/06 Anna emails me to say she made a mistake and actual rate would be 11.75% with a higher monthly payment! I signed documents for that rate and even a document with errors would not affect the rate or repayment amount. Now I am being told that I need to sign documents for the higher rate if I want the loan.

This appears to me to be a bait and switch. But even if it is an honest mistake, I ave htaken actions with my finances, such as declining a 10.5% loan from another company as well as modifying payments on other debts after believing I had signed legally obligating documents.

I put in for a Ditech loan, even had a preapproved letter from them. I told them I had a contract on a home and time was getting short. The loan guy never got back to me and the time ran out on my contract.

They left me hanging.

Responded to television ad cited flat rate of $395 for a new mortgage on a home that we now own free and clear with Ditech.com. In various e-mails and telecons we were advised of the process and interest rate. However, upon receipt of a mountain of paperwork for what was to be a paperless transaction, we refused to sign because the terms and conditions had changed from our first contact. We had provided our credit card number to secure a lock in rate that vanished into thin air and after returning the unsigned paperwork learned that $500 had been charged to our credit card without prior approval. This occurred despite an e-mail of July 10, 2006 which indicated that the deposit should not ever be charged and that the $395 processing fee would come out of the loan proceeds.

Immediate remedy was not provided by Ditech.Com despite repeated calls and e-mails insisting that the unauthorized charge on our credit card be rescinded.
